Detection and Molecular Characterization of Chickpea Chlorotic Dwarf Virus and Tomato Leaf Curl New Delhi Virus in Morocco

The chickpea chlorotic dwarf virus (CpCDV) (from the genus Mastrevirus and family Geminiviridae) tomato leaf curl New Delhi (ToLCNDV) Begomovirus represent an important threat to different crops worldwide, as they are emerging viruses in Asian continent, were introduced Mediterranean region 2012, then reported Morocco 2017 2018. present study addresses dispersion of CpCDV ToLCNDV evaluates genetic diversity Moroccan isolates both viruses. A total 1333 symptomatic plant samples analyzed by PCR. has detection melon tomato, well squash for first time Morocco. Blast analysis selected representative showed a 97–99% nucleotide identity with infecting region. Phylogenetic low variability among compared Spanish Italian isolates, whereas strains variable regarding Tunisia Egypt. Recombination presence recombinant parents. spread geminiviruses represents crop production, requiring development protection management strategies. To prevent viral outbreaks, restrictive phytosanitary measures resistance strategies also necessary.
